  • Food Truck Thursday: We do not have a food truck vendor scheduled today. Please check back early next week to see who’s scheduled for the remainder of the month.
  • Proper Trash Disposal and Littering: Here are a few requests regarding proper trash disposal, littering and community etiquette. 1) Instead of throwing trash in the very front of the dumpster (where it is usually most full), please consider walking a few more feet and using the entire dumpster.  2) After football game weekends, our maintenance staff spends a great deal of time picking up litter throughout the community. Littering in our community (or anywhere else) is not only unlawful, it’s disrespectful of others and unsightly. Beer cans lying around a building, especially the ones that were tossed around the 1100 building last weekend, is not a good look for Suncrest Village. Owners: please inform your renters of our requests. Thank you.

Dec 2, 2021 . . . News, Updates and Reminders

  • Season for Thieves: According to an article in yesterday’s Dominion Post, thieves are holiday “shopping” from vehicles, doorsteps, and mail boxes throughout Monongalia County. With more holiday gift buying being done online, thieves are finding it easier to cash in on your gift-giving and valuables! Thanks to the widespread use of security technology gadgets and social media, victims are able to instantly share news and videos of thieves with neighbors and the police. However, identifying individuals with low resolution video footage and masks is challenging for police, so prevention becomes more essential! Here are some tips offered by Deputy Chief P.J. Scott of the Morgantown Police Department for preventing the theft of packages left at your door:
    • Avoid the package being left at your door; if possible, arrange for packages to be delivered when you or someone is home to receive them.
    • If deliveries must be left on your porch, avoid leaving them there for a long period of time.
    • Keep porches uncluttered and make sure they are well-lit at all times. Proper lighting is very important for security cameras to capture better images, too. Motion detection lights can be a good deterrent.
    • Having packages delivered to another location (such as our office, your workplace, etc) can be a good solution.
    • And . . . when shopping and sending packages directly to others, ask them to provide you with an address for more secure deliveries.

Additional tips were offered if your packages are stolen. In addition to the following tips from the Dominion Post article, please contact our HOA Office of any incidents at 304-598-5815. Remember to lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables within view.

  1. File a report with the local law enforcement agency – only after you have confirmed that the package has been delivered and is missing.  NOTE: Since our development is not in the corporate city boundaries, residents of Suncrest Village must call the Monongalia County Sheriff Department, not the Morgantown Police Department.
  2. “If you capture someone stealing a package on a security or doorbell camera, Scott encourages you to alert police. “If someone has video of a theft they can send that video directly to law enforcement via an email or a link,” said Scott.

Even after reporting your event to the police and our HOA office, continue to provide details that may occur afterward. This is especially true if someone contacts you saying they have found something that belongs to you in our community or elsewhere. Every clue could lead to an arrest and potential solution.

  • Pet Leash Community Rules/County Law and Pet Waste:
    • Suncrest Village residents are reminded that dogs must be on a leash. Not only is this a community rule, it also a Monongalia County Ordinance (law). If you see a dog outside without a leash, please contact our office and the Animal Control office of Monongalia County. Please be advised of the fines associated with this and other violations at Suncrest Village (see page 31 in above hyperlinked document).  And, please do not use the pet waste receptacles for garbage; they are for Pet Waste Only – Not Garbage!

Nov 30, 2021 . . . ATTENTION SUNCREST VILLAGE RESIDENTS: This memo contains important information for this holiday season. Please read carefully and forward to renters, if applicable.

  1. PACKAGE PICK-UP:
    1. Timely Pick-up: The office gets flooded with an abundance of packages this time of the year. Our secured space for package storage is limited. We are asking that you please pick up your packages in a timely manner! Preferably 24-48 hours upon delivery, if possible.
    2. Mail Slips: Due to the abundance of packages we receive, we are requiring that you must bring your package slip in order to pick up your package(s). Therefore, you must stop by your mailbox before coming to the office. Office Admin is extremely busy this time of year and it isn’t ideal to get up every few minutes to check for a package that may not even be delivered yet. The expected delivery date isn’t always accurate. If you think your package has been delivered and you simply did not get a mail slip left in your box, please check your tracking status to be certain it says DELIVERED. It will usually say something similar to “delivered- left at main office”. If it says “delivered- left in mailbox” that means it was, in fact, left in your mailbox.
    3. Sunday Mail Pick-up Hours: Because of our high influx of packages, we have asked Duane if he would be willing to open the office on Sundays for package pick-up. He has agreed to do so, therefore, the office will be open for mail pick-up only from 12:00pm – 4:00pm on Sunday December 5th, December 12th and December 19th. Be sure to say ‘Thank You’ to Duane if you come in and see him on a Saturday or Sunday. ????
  2. COMPACTOR ISSUES: We will have a temporary dumpster here on December 7th and 8th. We will be having the Refuse Area garage door replacement taking place on those days. During this time, please be sure to use the provided dumpster and please be sure you get all garbage placed inside. Do NOT leave any garbage on the grounds around the dumpster and do not try to place any garbage inside the current Refuse Area on the above mentioned dates. Failure to properly follow disposal directions will result in a fine.
  3. LOCK YOUR VEHICLES: All over Morgantown and beyond, vehicles continue to be ransacked. These thieves are looking for anything they can get their hands on. We would like to remind you all to KEEP YOUR VEHICLES LOCKED AT ALL TIMES. We also recommend you not leave any valuables (wallets, purses, presents, etc.) inside your vehicles. If the thief sees something of value, they may go to extreme measures to get it. It is best if you don’t leave anything valuable in your vehicles as a precaution.
  4. SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: If you see or hear any type of suspicious activity, especially late at night, please call Security at 304-598-5815. We strongly discourage everyone from approaching anyone you don’t know, for any reason.
  5. HOLIDAY HOURS: Our office hours will be changed on the following days this holiday season:

  • Fall Reminders: We’re putting together a new web page with routine and preventive maintenance suggestions for property owners at Suncrest Village. Watch for news announcing the page in the near future. In the meantime, here are some suggestions for the preventive maintenance of condos and townhomes:
    • HVAC Units: this is a good time to contact your preferred HVAC contractor and schedule an inspection of your HVAC system. In the very least, change/clean your furnace filters regularly and keep your vents and cold air returns dust-free.
    • Preventing water damage and costly repairs: here are a few easy and routine tasks to do to reduce the risk of water damage inside your unit: 1) check for leaks under your sinks – especially after using them, 2) remove hair from your sink and tub drains, 3) troubleshoot running toilets, 4) call a plumber for an annual inspection of all water sources in the house., and don’t forget to include the refrigerator/freezer’s water line to the list of inspections. February 2, 2021 . . . Important COVID Vaccine UPDATE . . . “follow the bouncing ball”: New registration system and information implemented by Governor Justice. “ALL West Virginians over the age of 16 are encouraged to pre-register through the West Virginia COVID-19 Vaccine Registration System. Vaccine supplies are limited, so pre-registration does not mean immediate access to vaccination. Pre-registration offers West Virginians the opportunity to receive real-time updates on vaccine availability and schedule an appointment when available as vaccine supplies allow. The state’s driving principles for COVID-19 vaccinations are to build community immunity in West Virginia by protecting our most vulnerable, reducing deaths, reducing hospitalizations, and maintaining our critical services such as acute care. Note: You are encouraged to create an account in this system even if you have received a first dose of the vaccine or you are already on a waitlist through a local health department or healthcare provider.”  Read more and register here.  Calling the number provided is much easier. Wait times vary but don’t hang up if your 90th something in line; calls are handled fairly quick.

By the way: Happy Groundhog Day . . .  or not so happy! According to Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil, we’re in for six more weeks of winter ;-( Learn more about the four-legged forecaster and annual event at www.groundhog.org.

March 23, 2020: We wish to thank everyone in our community for their understanding and cooperation during the current pandemic. In response to public health and safety officials’ recommendations for controlling the spread of the Covid-19 virus, we have closed our office to the public, changed mail pick-up procedures and hours, and restricted access to the clubhouse and gym.  Whether we are in the office or working from home (like many of you) we are able to receive phone calls and emails. Please be patient as we do our best to reply within 24 hours.

As reported today, Governor Justice has issued a “Stay Home” order and has shut down non-essential businesses. Please heed the advice and continue to follow good hygiene and social distancing recommendations. Hopefully, our sacrifices will be helpful in controlling the outbreak in Morgantown and beyond.
